Just arrived from Istanbul, Turkey. Ryder’s story begins with one of our Turkish volunteers spotting him as she was driving down the road. Ryder was cowering with his whole buddy glued to the sidewalk as if he was trying to be invisible to other dogs and people so he would not be hurt by them. It’s likely that he was tossed out of his home and dumped somewhere he had never been before. It was clear that he was traumatized and scared, so our volunteer loaded him into her car and drove him to our boarding facility. Ryder feels much better now, maybe even better than he’s ever felt before. He’s all about giving kisses to you, and when he takes a break from his kisses, he collects all the toys in his bed and plays quietly by himself. He loves chewing marrow bones and playing tug of war. Ryder is still very young at just 1.5 years old, but he’s very eager to learn so he can please his people…he even knows how to give his paw! It is so adorable that when he gives his paw and he’ll sit on his back legs like a kangaroo and hold his front paws up to ask for a treat.
