Kyra's Rescue

KEREM was rescued from a rural part of Turkey that is not kind to homeless dogs. In addition to the harsh conditions and cruelty he endured, poor Kerem arrived sick and injured at the Kyra's Rescue facility in Istanbul. He spent some time at our veterinarian clinic, was neutered and completed the vaccination series for his age. Now he's healthy, strong and has arrived in the US. Despite the hard start to his life, this boy is a sweetheart who craves love and affection. We believe Kerem is less than a year old and mostly Akbash, a breed known for being calm, affectionate, alert, courageous, independent, intelligent, and loyal who is similar to a Great Pyrenees. Comparable to the story of Romeo and Juliet, Kerem’s name comes from an epic Turkish love story called “Kerem and Asli”. Could this Turkish Romeo be the love of your life?

If you're looking for a dog who will turn heads as you walk down the street, Kerem is the dog for you. He's so unique and gorgeous, and everyone will stop to ask you what kind of dog he is. At 84 lbs, this Akbash mix is a big boy, but he's the epitome of a gentle giant. He's calm and confident, but he's very sweet and gives kisses to everyone he meets. Despite his size, he's amazing with kids and cats, too!  Kerem’s ideal forever home will include big yard for play and exercise, and a doggie sibling as he is a very social boy.
