Thank you for taking the time to apply for a Kyra’s Rescue (KR) dog. Your application will be processed in the order that it was received.
The Adoption Application will assist us in understanding what you are looking for in your new rescue dog. Please note:

It is required that you read the information provided on the Adoption Guidelines tab prior to applying for a dog.

We do not adopt our dogs to homes where there are children who are 4 years of age or younger.

We do not adopt Golden Retrievers or other large dogs to applicants who reside in a rental apartment.

We do not adopt outside of a 100 miles radius of the DC Metro area, unless there is a KR volunteer in that area who is available to conduct a home visit with the prospective adopter.

The non-refundable application fee is $25. Please pay by using PayPal here: paypal.me/kyrasrescue IMPORTANT: Uncheck the blue box which says "Paying for Goods or a Service?". If you do not choose this option, we will be charged a service fee and we will not receive the full amount. Please be aware that paying the application fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt a dog from Kyra's Rescue.
PLEASE ALLOW US 4 TO 6 WEEKS TO PROCESS YOUR APPLICATION. PLEASE ALSO NOTE THAT WE HAVE NO IDEA WHEN OUR "ARRIVING SOON" DOGS WILL BE ABLE TO COME TO THE U.S.
Because Kyra’s Rescue is an entirely volunteer run organization, we ask for your patience. Our team works very hard to review each application very carefully to make good matches based on certain factors:

the dog’s personality suchs as "likes, dislikes, wants, needs, abilities,activity level, and temperament"

your personality and lifestyle

if there are children in the home (5 years of age or older) is it the right dog for your family situation

if there are other animals (cats or another dog) will our rescue dog adjust well, for the good of him/her and any pets already in the home

does the dog required a fenced yard
Once we’ve completed the review of your application, we will notify you of our decision to move forward with your application or not. We may receive several good applicants for the same dog. In such a case, we will contact the applicants who were not selected for that specific dog to ask if they may be interested in adopting another KR dog, or if we may keep their application on file for possible adoption in the future.Each decision is made with the dog's best interest in mind and in an effort to find the best match between each dog and family. This is solely at the discretion of the KR Team and is done to ensure that our dogs are placed in the most safe, caring and loving home.
**Kyra’s Rescue has the right to refuse any adoption we do not feel is in the best interest of the dog.**

ATTENTION PLEASE! During the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown, we are still working to place the dogs we have in the US. We will also accept applications for our dogs still waiting for transport to the U.S. so we can be prepared for when they arrive, however we do not know how long it may be before they can come to the U.S.
